How do I begin to write about what I call “Race Weekend?” As always, I am overwhelmed by the love and support from so many, many that never knew Christian personally, but run or walk to honor her memory. When I think about everyone I had personal contact with this weekend, I cannot pick out one person or moment that means more...every member of Team CMB is special and has a story and I am so very thankful they run or walk in memory of Christian Moseley Bryant. As, I have said before, Team CMB is smaller than it has ever been, but NO less special. Team CMB was easily over 100 strong in actual competiers, but our Team had many volunteering this weekend just for our team...Justine Moseley (my Mother), Carla Elrod, Holly Shull, Donna Fordham, Andrew Paulson, Terri Dinges, Greg Shull and Scott Elrod (those were our tent volunteers). I met some new people running “For Christian” (as our shirt Tech Tee said this weekend). I am honored to have every new member and all of our returning members and supporters! I am very thankful for Christian’s friends that returned this year to run in her memory, Carol and Mary Portera, ran the half marathon (Carol traveled from Tusculoosa, Ala and Mary from Memphis, Tn). Corbin Cullum (traveled from Birmingham, Ala), Lauren Glenn and Kathryn Bryant (traveled from Athens, Ga. and Kathryn brought 2 sorority sisters with her that are from Greenville, SC) and Mary Margaret Taylor (traveled from Auburn, Ala), all of these friends of Christian’s ran the 5K. I am very thankful for them! I hesitate to even start listing names I am thankful for, because when I think of one person, another pops in my head...our family has been blessed by many that loved Christian or have been touched by her race! I do have to give a gigantic shout out to Jeff Gaither, Christian’s Cross Country Coach for many years and someone that was a huge part of her life and her “race.” He ran a very fast half marathon and won his age division and was our first Team CMB member to finish the half marathon. He loved Christian and Christian loved and respected him and I am very thankful that he has run for Team CMB every year! Thank you Jeff! I also want to give a shout out to Kristin Holloway Phillips, she ran her first marathon today to honor Christian’s memory. She was our first Team CMB marathoner to finish. Kristin was the assistant Cross Country Coach, Christian’s senior year, so she got to know Christian during summer work outs before her diagnosis. She has run every year for Team CMB. And just one more person to recognize...Thomas Barros, was a literally with Christian during the last 8 weeks of her life, at the time he was a first year pediatric resident, he did so much research and loved Christian deeply. He has run with Team CMB every year, but this year, he traveled 9 hours from North Carolina and ran the full marathon in under 4 hours...completely amazing! There were other doctors that were residents when Christian was sick, that are now off doing fellowships, one of Christian’s favorites, Jennifer Hamm ran today and is doing a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncolgy at UAB. Her husband, Austin also cared for Christian and he ran with her and he is doing a  Pediatric Genetics fellowship at UAB.  So today, many friends, many nurses, one of Christian’s primary doctors in PICU, and some that have been touched by her story ran today. I am very thankful for each member of our team. One more person, Lela Moore has traveled from Brooklyn, NY every year to run for Team CMB, her connection is too involved too explain, every year she runs the half marathon, this year she had a PR (personal record for this race), in 2 weeks she is running the NYC Marathon.  And I am very thankful for the “rocks” in my life...the rocks are few and they all know who they are! It’s hard for me not to talk about every person today I was with that have impacted my life and impacted Christian’s life! I need to stress, how thankful I am for all of the nurses and the doctor in PICU that ran today and have participated the past 3 years and those unable to run that came to visit and donate over the weekend. Our PICU family will forever be apart of us, even if they leave and go to other places...the doctors and nurses, techs and RT’s that loved Christian will be forever be a part of our lives and family. My last shout out goes to my Hamilton Medical Center family, some that have run every year and some new this year, they are an awesome group and some of my rocks are in this group, I love you all! So, I have to wrap this very long blog up...Consider a donation to The Christian Bryant Foundation...Love Deeply, Forgive Often and Find Your Blessings - Robyn Bryant
