One year ago with the help of really good friends, The Christian Bryant Foundation was established.  As I wake today, as always I feel a twinge of sadness, but the day is beautiful, just as it was a year ago.  But, a year ago I was not able to notice anything around me, I was just going through the motions starting to plan Christian’s funeral with the help  of Chris and very close friends.  Today, we have lived a full year without Christian’s physical presence.  Christian is still with us in spirit and this was so evident at her funeral and then as Christian’s Foundation started to grow.  As of today, Christian’s foundation has received over 340 gifts totaling $75, 620.19.  The Foundation has made gifts totaling $26, 785.16.  These gifts include a purchase of 11 sleep recliners for T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit’s private rooms and waiting area.  These sleep recliners were selected with great care and I have personally seen them in use and heard words of thanks, which is very humbling.  The foundation also made a gift to help purchase reliable transportation for an young local oncology patient’s family who required a transplant.  With the help of the Pediatric Oncologist we have found a good place for the $6,000 given to Christian’s Foundation from the GPS/McCallie Mission Remission Event.  We will be making this announcement very soon.

Team CMB has been a huge blessing.  If you do not know about Team CMB, it is a team that was created by Gretchen Castleberry, one of Christian’s nurses shortly after her death for the 7 Bridges Marathon/4 Bridges Half/2 Bridges 5K and Family Fun Run.  When Gretchen first approached the race organizers about a team, they were on board and she told them we might have about 50 participants.  Team CMB amazed everyone, we had 293 running/walking in events, 28 registered volunteers, for a team total of 321.  The race organizers got behind Team CMB and some really cool things, including personalized bibs, special Team CMB tech tees and hats. There was an article in Get Out Chattanooga about Team CMB and in The Chattanooga Times Free Press.   Kaycee Brown, another one of Christian’s nurses was the t-shirt organizer and spent tireless hours ordering and delivering and making sure everything was done right and we had plenty of shirts to sell and the race expo and race day.  Race day was incredible.  I am looking forward to another great day this year, as Team CMB will hopefully continue to grow and make a huge statement October 20, 2013.  So today, I am focused on hope, blessing and possibility.  As we celebrate Memorial Day, I will always think of Christian and my Daddy that died May 29, 2006, along with all those who have served our country, but today, do something nice for someone or yourself.  Make a commitment and register as a member of Team CMB for one of the 7 Bridges races on October 20, 2013, to register click this link,
